Yoga

Flexibility should be an important aspect in your exercising routine. In order to have a structured exercise routine, strength training, cardio, and stretching should encompass this program. Many exercisers fail to include stretching into their routine. Stretching causes lactic acid to be released from the muscles which is crucial in muscle recovery. Once lactic acid is released, improvements in stiffness, tension, pain, and fatigue should occur. In addition, improvements in range of motion in the joints should also increase.

Yoga has many benefits to help improve health. These include lowering blood pressure and heart rate which can prevent heart disease, increase flexibility, strengthen core muscles, breath easier, and relieving stress, asthma, back pain, and arthritis.

Many people tend to have very tight hamstring and lower back muscles due to the extended amount of time in the sitting position. As these muscles tighten, they get very weak increasing your chances of injuring the lower back. A simple lift of an object or twist can easily throw the back out of alignment causing immense amounts of pain.

If you are interested in trying yoga, start at a beginning level. There are a variety of classes available, so make sure you call ahead or research the type of class before attending. You can also purchase yoga DVDs as a lower cost option.
