Importance of Positive Self Talk

Henry Ford said “Whether you think you can, or think you can’t…You’re right.”  The way you see yourself and how you talk to yourself helps determine your success.  Replacing negative self talk with positive self talk is an essential part of success after bariatric surgery.  The negative chatter that most of us have going around in our minds throughout the day lead to our attitude and outlook.  Replacing the words I can’t with I can.

In a conversation with someone recently the person mentioned there are no good foods left, but instead of looking at things from this perspective think about the new “good” foods that have replaced the old ones.  Choosing to see the positive light of things can help someone succeed.  It takes time to develop positive self talk and replace those negative thoughts, but when you find yourself thinking negatively and following the negative trail step back and try to change towards a positive outlook.  Some examples of positive self talk for a healthy lifestyle include:
